In the surroundings of Cascina Foresto there are many places to visit. The farmstead is located on the boarder of the Baraggia di Candelo natural reserve, a plateau that faces the Alps. Here canyons, meadows and woods still keep nature wild. All these features combined sometimes make the Baraggia look like a European savannah, a unique scenario. Many paths span cross the area and will guide you through discovering it.

Just across the Baraggia you can visit the Ricetto di Candelo, a fortified “village within the village” built between the 13th an the 14th century by the local population. The Ricetto worked as a community castle to protect its most precious treasures like wine and cereals. Today the Ricetto hosts cultural and touristic events such as temporary exhibitions, congresses and local food markets.

Biella is the capital city of the district and is 12km from Cascina Foresto. There you can visit the Piazzo, a medieval quarter set on a hill facing the rest of the city. Behind these hills and surrounding the whole Biella area there are the Biellese Alps. Not far from Biella there is the magnificent Oropa Sanctuary (1159m) set in a wonderful mountain context. The church is dedicated to the Black Madonna and many pilgrims and hikers visit the area every year. Moving eastwards along the mountains you can reach the Oasi Zegna, a mountain natural park where tourist can do many outdoor sports like skiing, hiking or mountain biking.
